The Open Call List #23
Calls for Entry: August 5 - August 11, 2024
Hi,
Welcome to The Open Call List #23!
In this weekly newsletter, I share opportunities for photographers for exhibitions, publications, fellowships, grants, residencies, jobs, and more. My goal is to make the photography world more accessible, especially to emerging artists. While I include both free opportunities and calls for entry with submission fees, I only share opportunities that favor artists.
Opening Remarks:
August is full primarily of two types opportunities: 1) unique calls for exhibitions and 2) opportunities for funding. In the former case, included below are calls for alt-process works, square images, narrative photography, photobooks, protest-related photography, and more. In the latter case, funding is available over the course of the next month through organizations like the Center for Fine Art Photography, the Lucie Foundation, Maine Media, the New Orleans Photo Alliance, and others. I’ve listed the upcoming major sources of funding as far in advance as possible knowing that funding applications often require additional written portions, and extra time to prepare is always appreciated. Good luck to those who apply!
Finally, in addition to photography- and arts-related jobs, I have included a growing number of fellowships, internships, and teaching opportunities in the “Jobs” section. I will continue to include such opportunities as the coming academic year nears.
