In this weekly newsletter, I share opportunities for photographers for exhibitions, publications, fellowships, grants, residencies, jobs, and more. My goal is to make the photography world more accessible, especially to emerging artists. While I include both free opportunities and calls for entry with submission fees, I only share opportunities that favor artists.

This week’s Open Call List contains 22 calls for entry, 13 of which offer free submissions. The list includes several opportunities for exhibition, including some with honoraria and awards for exhibiting artists, multiple publication opportunities, end of the year photographic awards from photo arts organizations, fully-funded residencies, prizes, and more. Among the new opportunities in this week’s “Jobs” section is a remote position with Aperture, as well as other recent job postings in the photo arts industry.

The Halide Project’s Living Image 2024/2025 (Exhibition + Award) | Deadline: 12/16 (Extended), Fee: $40, Submission: Up to 3 images ($10 per extra image), Exhibition Dates: February 1 to March 16, 2025, Exhibition Location: The Halide Project, Philadelphia, PA, USA, Awards: One grand prize winner will receive $250, as well as the opportunity to show a body of work in The Halide Project’s annual Spring Invitational. Restriction: Artwork must be made using traditional, pre-digital photographic printing techniques.
