Hi,

Welcome to The Open Call List #83!

In this weekly newsletter, I share opportunities for photographers for exhibitions, publications, fellowships, grants, residencies, jobs, and more. My goal is to make the photography world more accessible, especially to emerging artists. While I include both free opportunities and calls for entry with submission fees, I only share opportunities that favor artists.

Opening Remarks:
I’m very excited to share that this week I will publish A Directory of Digital and Print Photography Publications that Accept Submissions. Since last year’s list of 18 Photography Publications, I have learned of many more wonderful print magazines and online platforms that publish and champion photography. So, I’m excited to share a new, greatly expanded directory. When the directory is published later this week, free subscribers will receive a truncated preview, and paid subscribers will have access to the entire list.

On that note, I have added one new institution to the Directory of Galleries and Museums That Accept Photography Submissions. Multiple recent additions to the directory have ongoing calls currently open. (Recent additions are indicated by date in the listing.)

This week’s Open Call List below contains 28 calls for entry, including 14 that offer free submission. The list includes 13 opportunities that involve exhibition (across the U.S. and Europe, as well as online), and 5 opportunities that include publication. The list also includes two funded residencies, grants ranging up to $30,000, various calls for analog photography, photobook awards, and several other sources of financial support for photographic projects.

The Jobs section contains jobs and internships in the photographic arts industry in the U.S., Europe, and Asia, including multiple hybrid and remote positions, as well as photography-related positions in higher education.
