Welcome to The Open Call List #87!
In this weekly newsletter, I share opportunities for photographers for exhibitions, publications, fellowships, grants, residencies, jobs, and more. My goal is to make the photography world more accessible, especially to emerging artists. While I include both free opportunities and calls for entry with submission fees, I only share opportunities that favor artists.
Opening Remarks:
This week, I added two new publications to the recently released Directory of Publications That Accept Photography Submissions, both of which are currently running open calls.
I also added one new regionally-specific institution to the Directory of Galleries and Museums That Accept Photography Submissions. The new institution is currently running an open call for solo exhibition proposals.

This week’s Open Call List below includes 29 calls for entry, 15 of which offer free submission. The list includes many calls to exhibit photography at major museums and galleries across the U.S., Europe, the U.K., and Asia. It also includes several calls for publication, including calls for environmental photography, self-portraiture, analog photography, vernacular photography, as well as open-ended opportunities. Additionally, the list includes opportunities for funding for photographic projects, as well as residencies, fellowships, commissions, prizes for photobooks, calls for photobooth photography, and more.
The Jobs section includes new jobs and internships in the photo arts industry, including a tenure-track position at a renowned arts school, multiple new paid internships, and several new roles with well-known photographic arts organizations.

Baxter St’s 2026 Residency | Deadline: 10/27 (Extended), Fee: FREE, Submission: Up to 10 images, letter of intent, artist statement, CV, references, Residency Includes: Access to a workspace at Baxter St for three months, a materials fee to cover the cost of film, printing and other materials, a $3,000 stipend, a solo exhibition at Baxter St. Restriction: Applicants must be New York City residents during the duration of the residency.
Flare Journal’s Call for Submissions (Print Publication) | Deadline: 10/29, Fee: $5-10 suggested donation, Submissions: Up to three individual images or a series of up to 8 images, Selection Includes: Publication in Flare’s inaugural issue in Spring 2026. Restriction: This call is open to photographic work that addresses the climate crisis.
Griffin Museum’s John Chervinksy Emerging Photographer Scholarship (+ Exhibition) | Deadline: 10/31, Fee: FREE, Submission: 10 images, bio, CV, statement of artistic purpose, Scholarship: $3,000, as well as exhibition at the Griffin Museum, Winchester, MA, USA. Restriction: This call is open to emerging photographers.
