About The Open Call List
In this weekly newsletter, I share opportunities for photographers for exhibition, publication, fellowships, grants, residencies, jobs, and more. My goal is the make the photography world more accessible, especially to young and emerging artists.
As an emerging artist myself and a former arts student, I know that finding and navigating the internet’s many calls for entry is daunting and time-consuming. I bring my experience working in the arts industry — formerly at a for-profit photo gallery, and now at a non-profit photographic arts center — to finding and vetting the opportunities that I share. While I include both free opportunities and calls for entry with submission fees, I only share opportunities that favor artists.
Each week via the Open Call List, I deliver the opportunities that offer the most exposure, monetary value, and career support to photographers like you and me.
How much does The Open Call List cost?
As of April 2025, The Open Call List subscription model has changed. Per last the recent announcement, the newsletter now requires a paid subscription. Like before, sliding scale subscriptions between $2-$5 a month are available to maintain accessibility. A free subscription option is possible for those with financial need. Alongside these changes, The Open Call List is excited to introduce new and expanded reader benefits! The first additional reader benefit — a directory of contemporary photography galleries that accept submissions for representation and exhibition — is now available for all paid subscribers. In the coming months, further reader benefits will include:
Interviews with curators at major photography institutions about how to get your work noticed, how to develop relationships with institutions, how to prepare for portfolio reviews, and more
A directory of photobook publishers that accept book project submissions
