Welcome to The Open Call List #56!

In this weekly newsletter, I share opportunities for photographers for exhibitions, publications, fellowships, grants, residencies, jobs, and more. My goal is to make the photography world more accessible, especially to emerging artists. While I include both free opportunities and calls for entry with submission fees, I only share opportunities that favor artists.

An Important Update:
Starting on April 21, 2025, The Open Call List will change its payment model. Moving forward, the newsletter will require a paid subscription. Like before, sliding scale subscriptions between $2-$5 a month will be available to maintain accessibility. (A free subscription option will be possible for those with financial need.)

Opening Remarks:
This week’s Open Call List below contains 20 calls for entry, including nine that offer free submission. This week’s list includes a large amount of exhibition opportunities (in multiple countries, in-person, online, exhibitions for photobooks, and more), as well as several opportunities for print publication, two photobook awards, two portrait awards, multiple fully-funded residencies, opportunities for writing about photography, and a call for solo exhibition proposals. The Jobs section has a particularly large amount of upcoming internships (and one fellowship), as well as several new jobs in the photo arts industry.

• Float Magazine and Humble Arts Foundation’s “Good Impactful Photography” (Printed Zine) | Deadline: 3/25, Fee: $5, Submission: Up to 3 images, Selection Includes: Publication in Float Magazine and Humble Arts Foundation’s upcoming collaborative zine, “Good Impactful Photography.”

• FotoEvidence’s The W Award | Deadline: 3/25, Fee: $20, Submission: PDF of book project, description of book, CV, Award Includes: One winning book project will receive editorial and publishing support to be published as a hard-bound book through FotoEvidence Press, plus the winner will receive 25 complimentary copies of the book. Restriction: This call is open to women photographers working in documentary photography.
