Hi,
Welcome to The Open Call List #60!
In this weekly newsletter, I share opportunities for photographers for exhibitions, publications, fellowships, grants, residencies, jobs, and more. My goal is to make the photography world more accessible, especially to emerging artists. While I include both free opportunities and calls for entry with submission fees, I only share opportunities that favor artists.
Opening Remarks:
This week’s Open Call List - beneath the update below - contains 23 calls for entry, 11 of which offer free submission. The list contains many exhibition opportunities, including several at major photography institutions, as well as calls for photobooks, zines, and photobook dummies, calls for photography curators, multiple print publication opportunities, portfolio reviews and community critiques, several photo awards ranging up to $10,000, calls for analog photography projects, and more.
The “Jobs” section contains many paid summer internships, photography positions in higher education, jobs at several renowned photography galleries and institutions, one role with a photobook publishing house, and various other positions in the photo arts industry.
An Important Update:
As of today, The Open Call List subscription model has changed. Per last month’s announcement, the newsletter now requires a paid subscription. Like before, sliding scale subscriptions between $2-$5 a month are available to maintain accessibility. A free subscription option is possible for those with financial need. Full details about payment options are below.
Alongside these changes, The Open Call List is excited to introduce new and expanded reader benefits! The first additional reader benefit — a directory of contemporary photography galleries that accept submissions for representation and exhibition — will be published this Thursday, April 24, for all paid subscribers. In the coming months, further reader benefits will include:
Interviews with curators at major photography institutions about how to get your work noticed, how to develop relationships with institutions, how to prepare for portfolio reviews, and more
A directory of photobook publishers that accept book project submissions
Practical career development advice from established and successful photographers
And more!
All paying subscribers also gain access to a collection of already-published, evergreen bonus guides and articles.

Finally, if you cannot afford a subscription at any sliding scale level, please email me to request a need-based subscription. (Please allow for a 48-hour response time.) I am committed to accessibility, and I will never deny access to the newsletter due to financial need.
As a reader of the work that goes into this newsletter, I hope you’ll understand that this change is necessary for me to continue dedicating the hundreds of hours I have put into finding, vetting, and sharing opportunities over the last year, as well as developing and writing additional material. As a photographer myself, I created this newsletter to help others gain access to the tools, information, and opportunities that can further their photographic careers. I remain dedicated to that mission as The Open Call List and its community continue to grow each day.
